About Vermeil
What is it?
Gold Vermeil is a layer of gold of at least 10 karats applied to a 925 sterling silver jewelry. Vermeil is an affordable gold jewelry alternative, that is both durable and long-lasting. Gold Vermeil is cheaper than solid gold, making it an affordable option for people looking for luxurious jewelry. Our jewelry is hallmarked 925.
Longevity?
Gold Vermeil is very durable. Due to the layer of gold being much thicker than in gold-plated jewelry. With a 2.5 microns thick plating standard, it is less susceptible to wear and discolouration. If properly maintained, it can remain beautiful for years.
Caring for me?
It is important to know that Gold Vermeil jewelry is not the same as solid gold jewelry. Although they have a thin layer of gold, they are still made of sterling silver and do not have the same value as solid gold. Gold Vermeil jewelry should be carefully treated for a longer lifespan. Below are detailed care instructons.
Care Instructions
How to do the distance with our Jewelry:

Tarnishing are or oxidising is a natural occurrence in all metals and should be expected in time. The degree of tarnishing varies on factors like individual body chemistry, environmental humidity, frequency of use and how well you care for and maintain your jewelry pieces.
To make it last, your Ruune jewelry needs to be cleaned regularly. Regular cleaning will minimise the Tarnishing/oxidation process and help avoid the build-up of oils, dirt and residue that can be harmful to gold Vermeil. We recommend cleaning your jewelry using a soft microfiber cloth.
Ideally you should remove your Vermeil jewelry prior to bathing, swimming, exercising and using cosmetics, hair products and perfumes.

Do not store your jewellery in a humid closed environment, eg: pouch or box. Check your unworn jewellery periodically to prevent tarnish caused by extended storage.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to contact us. Each piece of jewelry purchased will be accompanied by a care card for your convenience.
